The 5 Step Formula for Getting Clients on Facebook
Facebook is the largest social media platform available with 1.65 billion active users (Yes thats billions with a B). Which means your ideal clients are likely on Facebook and therefore you can get clients on Facebook. The thing that trips most people up is that they focus on running ads before they have made any money in their business or they are too distracted by Facebook. It does not have to be that way.
Facebook has been the primary platform that I have used to grow my successful coaching practice from day one. I have been able to help dozens of women through 1:1 coaching and have almost 1000 women in the Entrepreneurial Moms Community. As far as profit 100% of my clients come from Facebook. That has led to as much as $8,400/month in sales without ads.
These results did not just happen haphazardly, there is a system and a way to get the most out of the time spent on Facebook. In this article, I want to show you the system that I use. It starts with one word….FOCUS.
You know how distracting Facebook (and all social media can be). As a mom entrepreneur you add a screaming toddler and a 10 month old to the mix and you can quickly end up sucked into time wasted scrolling the newsfeed and zero clients. If you have been following me for some time, you know I am all about making the most out of the time spent working on my business. As moms we simply do not have time to waste. So I developed the acronym FOCUS to help me to stay on track.
You have probably heard that the fortune is in the follow-up. It is the #truth. When it comes to getting clients on Facebook, one of the most profitable things you can do is to follow up. This could be with leads, clients and peers in your industry. Work from a list and use a system so you dont miss following up with important people (I teach this in my Attract Clients On Facebook Course).
Outreach is about making connections with people. This could be peers in your industry or potential clients. Both are important for business profitability and growth. To clarify, here this is not about randomly spamming people on messenger. This is about making real connections with real people.
How do you go about starting with outreach? Compliment a peer on their work, asking them to have a virtual cup of coffee with you and help others without expecting anything in return. These connections will help you grow a profitable business long term (which is the goal after all). If you are very systematic, like I can be, you may wonder how is thins going to help me get clients? The answer is that you never know what will come from these relationships. I have had amazing opportunities through building relationships in this way everything from interviews to referrals and even more importantly, feeling supported in my business.
Nurture your community. Like I said, I have a Facebook group Entrepreneurial Mom’s. A group is an excellent way to cultivate community and grow a following. Groups give you the ability to connect on a deeper level with people. If you do not have a group you can cultivate community through your like page and through other groups.
You know I am all about being honest so here is the honest truth, if you are not into the idea of having group do not start one just because everyone else is doing it. A group takes a lot of time in the early stages and persistence. For the first 0-300 members or so you will be doing a lot of talking to yourself. However, my Facebook Groups has accounted for 90% of my sales and many friendships and connections. When you are starting out or if you do not want to start your own group you can go in other people’s Facebook groups. Here is a guide that I put together to help you with selling in other groups: “How to sell in Facebook Groups (even if they don’t allow promotion) without being sleazy.”
The number one rule of using Facebook to grow your business is….
DO NOT SCROLL THE NEWSFEED.
Repeat after me…
I will avoid the newsfeed.
Here is why: Facebook uses an algorithm that dictates what you see. This means you will be missing updates from key people you want to see updates from and you may also see a lot of stuff that is not going to help you grow your business but that WILL distract you from getting clients on Facebook.
What you can do instead is to create friend’s lists so that you get the updates from the key people you are wanting to keep up to date with. This might include the members of your group, your peers and people you had discovery calls with. I share how to do this in a non sleazy way in my Attract Clients On Facebook Course if you want to learn just how to sell without the sleaze.
When I say strategy I am referring to marketing strategy. This does not mean randomly posting just because you were told you needed to post 3x/day. Strategy is about having a content calendar and sticking with it. Its about providing more value and content than asking for sales. Follow the 80-20 rule: Give 80% of the time and ask for something (like opting in, sales promotion etc.) 20% of the time. Getting clients is easier when you are generous and giving. Choose strategy instead of random promotion or random posting. If you want a system and strategy for content creation join the content challenge where I show you how to create a content calendar.
So there you have it, you can use FOCUS (Follow-up, Outreach, Community, Un-distracted and Strategy) to get a massive return on your time invested on Facebook. I would love to hear from you, leave me a comment and let me know if you found this helpful and which step you will start to implement today.
